Dave is the Rector of the joint benefice of St Nicholas, Stevenage and St Mary, Graveley. He began his ministry in Stevenage in 2011.
John 5: 1-30 – What gives Jesus the right to fix things that are broken, interpret the law, give life and act as judge? He is the King and the earth and all that is in it belongs to him!
John 1: 6-9, 19-34 – John the Baptist announces the Messiah is coming, tells people to get ready and then points to Jesus and says “Here he is!” But who exactly is Jesus? We unpack what it means for Jesus to be God’s anointed King.
Romans 15 – This remembrance day we consider how the kingdom of God advances, not through war, but through a great message of peace. We learn from Paul’s example how we should go about our Christian duty of telling others about Jesus.
Romans 13 – How should we live as Christians in a secular state? Paul has some clear words of advice and 5 reasons why we should live as loyal, obedient, tax-paying, respectful citizens – whatever our government is like.
Romans 11: 1-36 – Paul concludes this section of the letter to the Romans with yet another big question: “Has time run out for Jewish people to be saved?” He answers with an emphatic “NO!” It’s an answer which brings hope to the Jes and one which brings hope and challenge to us.
