Talk given by Rev Dave Brown on Ash Wednesday 2019 to kick start our Lent Course looking at Lee Gatiss’s book The Forgotten Cross. This talk focuses on Isaiah 53 and defends the description of Jesus work on the cross often called Penal Substitutionary Atonement. It takes us to the heart of the cross- where Jesus died for our sins, in our place, and as our substitute.
