A Bible-believing, Jesus proclaiming, people-loving community

Making Use of Time

You may want more of it, you might like to take some of it back, but time is slippery and we only have the time we have been given, and not a minute more.

Last Saturday the PCCs of St Nicholas and St Mary’s gave up their time for a day away.  We spent some time thinking about our parishes and the people who live here, and looked at the results from the questionnaires to get a snapshot of the spiritual health of our congregations and how people are feeling about the church.  We then spent some time thinking about our Mission Action Plans and whether or not they are clearly focused on what we most want to achieve.

We also spent some time thinking about the 6 to 8 months we will be out of the building.  Various ideas were banded around and we are going to continue those discussions at our PCC meetings early in the New Year.  At some point we will let you have a look at the results from the surveys.  It made interesting reading.

But our clear focus was to ensure that we make the most of the opportunities we have been given. We want to do that for the time we will be away from here, and we want to do that this Christmas.

Christmas is one of those times when it’s easy to invite people to church or to speak about your faith.  So let’s pray that God will help us to make the most of this opportunity and speak up and invite people along.  As the ‘Meet the Nativity’ films have been showing us, (see https://meetthenativity.com) meeting Jesus is a life changing event.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if this Christmas, Jesus changed the lives of some people we love?
